Welcome To Coleman High School

This web site is dedicated to the students, faculty and the community of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Coleman High School (formally Jefferson Country Training School) served the Pine Bluff and adjacent African American communities from 1950 until 1971.

Coleman High School had a humble beginning in 1915 as the Hall School on West 6th street. Through various migrations, it stands today as Coleman Elementary School on West 13th street.

Our First Principal

Professor C. P. Coleman, a graduate of Rust College, in Holly Springs, Mississippi was the first superintendent and Principal the Jefferson County Training School which became the Jefferson County High School and years later the school was named for him and became Coleman High School. During his early days at the schools history he was both the principal and it's faculty.
